This online exhibition presents a simple proposition. There is art that
is created to “be” on the Net. After that, it gets more complex very quickly. Beyond Interface explores some of the complicating issues but does not attempt a comprehensive investigation. And while in the context of a conference on “museums and the web,” there may be interesting strategies to learn from artists for presenting a museum’s collections on the Net, the main goals of Beyond Interface are to present outstanding examples of net-based artistic activity, and to try and begin to better understand and appreciate this art and its context.

die “klassische netart Ausstellung”. Die Auswahl und Präsentation waren überzeugend. Eines der ersten und besten Beispiele für Ausstellungen im Medium der kunstlerischen Aktivitäten selbst.
Standard Wandtext, mit Title, Artist, Date und Link auf die “Original” Aktivität bilden den Einstig zu den einzelnen Projekten, die wiederum durch ein kuratorisches oder Künstlerstatement begleitet werden.
Es ist zu überlegen, ob dies heute noch so geschehen würde. Im youtube Fall existiert ja sozusagen schon eine Präsentationsumgebung. Das Beispiel, der Showcases im javamuseum, erscheint mir nicht nur antiquiert, sondern auch in der Gegenüberstellung mit beyond.interface in die falsche Richtung weiter entwickelt worden zu sein, d.h. es wurden sich zu viele Gedanken um das WIE der Präsentation gemacht, als z.B. die Struktur derselben zu überdenken …
